Core Socialist Idea – Collectivism

Core Socialist Idea – Collectivism

from the AQA specification: ‘to cover how collective human effort is both of greater practical value to the economy and moral value to society than the effort of individuals.

Socialists wish to transform capitalist society.

This transformation of society will focus on social, political and economic change.

Although they disagree exactly how this change can be achieved, socialists share a handful of common core ideas and principles.

As one of these core ideas, collectivism is the belief that the transformation of society will be best achieved through the collective action of the group rather than by individuals alone.

Collectivism is the practice or principle of giving a group priority over each individual in it.
